- Picking up some random book in some random language at the bookstore and thinking, "wow, this is a really cool-looking language. I wonder what it is?" Then I flip it over and WHAT? The little label on the back informs me that it's written in Thai, of course.
- Guessing right on my health professor's little quiz when he asks, "Which part of the world is my area of study focused in?" The options are Africa, Latin America, Something Else, and Southeast Asia. Southeast Asia it is! Duh.
- Watching with pure joy as that same professor clicks through a bunch of pictures from his travels to Thailand, and specifically, Chiang Mai.
- Hearing random snippets of people's conversations about previous trips to Thailand (I'm an unabashed avid eaves-dropper).
- Reading a Christmas card from my cousin's house, in which a girl mentions her recent trip to Thailand and how much she'll miss the people.
Who knew that the little country of Thailand was so prevalent in real-life? It's been popping up everywhere these days, and every time it does I get more excited to go.
Tehe. I've come so far from my past belief that Thailand and Taiwan are the same place. They're not.
Don't judge me.
Now we just need to get you some Thai food.
ReplyDeleteSeriously Jenna. There is a flippin delish Thai food place right across the street from my apartment. You should visit and we shall dine. AND guess what. I am in this class called Families and Cultural Diversity and it is so cool cuz it's full of people who have been places and love culture as much as me and there is a girl in there who "spent a couple years in Thailand" and every time she talks about it I get so excited for you. It's going to be so great!!
